Biblia regia, 1568-1572 With financial support from Philip II, Plantin achieves his absolute masterpiece: the multilingual Biblia polyglotta or Biblia regia. The work is in eight parts: four volumes for the Old Testament, one for the New Testament, and three volumes of ‘Apparatus’. The whole project took four years, from 1568 to 1572. It brought Plantin international fame.
